I am delighted to welcome you to Chertsey High School!

I am extraordinarily proud to be the Headteacher of this truly inclusive and diverse school. It is a school where we put the child at the heart of everything we do. Our ethos demonstrates our commitment to the values of knowledge, determination and love, values which are shared by staff, governors and students and guide us in all that we do.

Each child at Chertsey High School is unique; each child is loved and valued. No matter what their start in life, we know they deserve the best and that is what we aim to give them. They are our future and our greatest ambassadors; they are supported by a team of staff united in encouraging, guiding, motivating and challenging each one of them to be the best they can be. During their time with us, children grow, learn, take risks, sometimes making mistakes and falling down, but always rising again to be stronger than before. Above all, they will know that they belong at Chertsey High School.

All parents want their children to grow up to be happy, and healthy, leading fulfilling lives, and making a positive contribution to the wider world. At Chertsey High School we want nothing less, and we work in close collaboration with parents to prepare students to achieve academically and socially for their adult lives and careers.

In order to achieve this, we place a strong emphasis on a traditional approach to education, where respect, high standards and discipline contribute to academic success in examinations. Core subjects including English and Mathematics are crucial to children’s life chances and are given priority in children’s learning. At the same time a rich curriculum offer ignites and develops a wide range passions, interests and talents.

My wonderful staff are united in their approach. Colleagues are passionate in their belief in and care for our students. They are collaborative and supportive, they are energetic and optimistic; they know that our students can achieve more than they dreamed possible, and that once they have achieved success they will do so, again and again!

We have created a school where children develop a strong moral values for life: the knowledge and skills to grasp opportunities and to make the right choices in life; the determination to be curious, to be brave and to take risks but never to compromise their beliefs; and an all-encompassing capacity for love which allows them to be compassionate and forgiving of themselves, respectful and understanding of others, and fully aware of their responsibilities to society.

The best way, of course, to find the right school is to visit. Many parents comment that choosing a school is like choosing a house: it has to feel right. I encourage you to visit us to experience the school, to meet me, my staff and, most importantly, our students. You will be warmly welcomed.
